Creating a banner

Create a new document: 650 pixels wide, 65 pixels in height, Resolution: 72

Unlocking the background layer

Choose a color or a gradient for your background layer and fill the canvas. Then go to Effects Palette and choose Bevel.

Try out the different bevels to see which one is best for your banner.

Next select the T [Text] tool. Type text for your banner.

Switch to the Selection tool [arrow]. From the palette bin select a bevel effect for your text. You might even hold down on the word 'Bevels' and move to the 'Drop Shadow' effect and add a drop shadow.

Whatever you do, remember that this is also a communication tool; it needs to be able to be read easily!

IMPORTANT NOTE: As long as you do NOT resize the text with the arrow tool, it can be edited by simply using the T-tool. It is often hard to click at the edge of the words, so don't try to do that. Click somewhere INSIDE the text block. Once inside the text block, a double click will select one word; a triple click will select all the words.
