Defining a site allows you to easily upload, download, and organize the site.

There is some information you will need prior to beginning:

1. ftp host. Usually this is a url like [www.mysite.com] sometimes it is a series of four numbers
2. What is the directory? Often it is public_html; sometime your site is the base directory and you need put nothing
3. Your login (username) and password (giving you rights to the server)

Where do you get this information? If your site is administered by someone else, they can give you the correct information. If you have purchased your own server space, the company or ISP, has sent you your login name/password to access the site. If you've lost it, contact them.

Now, if you have the information, and also have a basic organization for your site on your local computer, it's time to begin!
