TORAIYARU Week - What's It Like to Go to Work?

Volunteer week: all 2nd year students at Inami Junior High - about 150 of them, go to shops, companies, hospitals, farms, etc. They choose where they want to go and work for one entire week. They do not just watch, but participate in the work. During this week they do not go to school.

During the week the students write journal entries about their experiences.
Japanese pages of the journal are here: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5
All are excited and a little anxious to start. They want to do well. By the end of the first day, everyone is very tired!
As the days go on the students learn more and are less tense about making mistakes. They are still tired, but feel good about their work.
By the end of the week they have learned much and are appreciative for the good mentors.
It is time to leave the work, and return the next week to school....and a less demanding schedule!
