Danjiri floats are pulled through the city by teams working together to move the 4-ton structures at a lively pace. Excitement builds as they turn corners. Music and the excited cries of onlookers urge the teams onward. In the evenings the floats are decorated with lanterns. About 600,000 are expected at this year's event.
