Created by hand

Besides things students find online, there is also "looking within the community" to see what things are made locally. Each local area likely has specialties. Also, what kinds of things do the students themselves make with their hands.

Is the new 'garden at the White house' in Washington, DC, something that is 'made with the hands'? Are all the backyard gardens and kid's own growing spaces 'made with the hands'?

and what about
...the baker or pizza maker who kneads the dough for that very basic of foods?
...the mail delivery person who makes sure the right recipient receives the right content.
...the grandmother who volunteers in the orphanage to spend time holding infants.
...the family who unpacks, sorts, shelves, and distributes food pantry goods to the hungry.
...the man who picks up old bikes from the dump, repairs them and gives them to those who need it to get to school or work.

What ideas do you have? You can snap pictures, tell about the hand work, take a video... The possibilities are endless!
