Too Much Noise

Mrs. Goudie's Kindergarten class
with their big buddies, Mrs.Jamar's Second graders

One early morning Mother was trying to work in the house.

The children were yelling.

The baby was crying.

Father was hammering in nails.

Mother began to sigh!

“I can’t do my work,” Mother said.

“This crowd is much too loud!”

Mother walked over to see Grandpa.

“Grandpa, my house is too loud.

The children are yelling.

The baby is crying.

Father is hammering in nails.

There is too much noise.

Ugh! What can I do now?”

Grandpa looked up. “No problem,” he said.

“Bring the dog and the cat into the house.”

Mother walked home.

She called the dog and the cat into the house.

Soon…

The dog was barking.

Cat fur was flying.

The children kept yelling.

Father was hammering in nails.

> Mother was sighing.

I can’t do my work, " Mother said.

“This crowd is very loud!

I just need a few minutes of quiet.”

Mother went back to Grandpa.

“Grandpa, my house is much noisier.

The children are still yelling.

The baby is still crying.

Father is still hammering in nails.

The dog is still barking at the cat.

“What can I do now?”

Grandpa nodded. “No problem,” he said.

“Bring the rooster and the cow into the house.”

Mother walked home.

She pulled the cow and the rooster into the house.

Soon…

The cow was mooing;

The rooster replying.

The dog was barking.

Cat fur was flying.

The children were yelling.

Father was hammering in nails.

Mother was sighing.

I can’t do my work, “ Mother said.

“This crowd is much too loud!”

Mother walked back to Grandpa's house.

“Grandpa, my house is much noisier.

The children are still yelling.

The baby is still crying.

Father is still hammering in nails.

The dog is still barking at the cat.

And now the cow is mooing and the rooster is crowing.

This house is like azoo!”

Grandpa smiled. “No problem, “ he said. >

“The cat and the dog and the cow and the rooster must go

out the back exit.”

Mother walked back home.

Mother thought the rooster must go outside.

And the cat and the dog must go outside, too.

The children were still yelling.

The baby was still crying.

Father was still hammering in nails.

> Mother smiled.

“Now I can do my work!

The house is so quiet.”
