Retold by Ms. McGowan's First Graders (originally by Marilyn Tolhurst) Once upon a time there lived the Blairs. The father was named Mr. Blair, the mother was named Mrs. Blair, and the third Blair was named Little David Blair. One day while they were eating breakfast they decided to go for a walk. While they were gone a bear came into their house, and he was trying to eat the cereal. But it was too LOUD! Then he tried the pancakes but they were too flat! Then he tried the honey and it was just right!!! Well, then he tried to go and play a game. He found checkers, but it was too many pieces! He found chess, and the board was too big! And then he found a play kitchen and it was just right!!! Then he got sleeeeeeepy. Then he went to try the beds. He tried one bed, but it was too hard! The second bed was nice, but it was a bit too squooooshy. The last bed was eXactly just right!!! While he was sleeping (ZZZZ's) the three Blairs came back. When the three Blairs came back, they saw a mess in the dining room, a wreck in the kitchen, and a mess of toys. Then they saw the checkers and they said, "Who's been playing with the checkers?" Then they
found the chess game and they said "Who's
been playing with my chess board?" Little David Blair called after the bear and said, "You come back tomorrow to play!" THE END
