The Three Bears

Grade 1, Norwood Elementary School, New York

Retold by Ms. Donohue's first grade class

Once upon a time there lived three bears. There was a Baby Bear, a Mama Bear, and a Papa Bear. The Papa Bear had a big bowl of Porridge. The Mama Bear had an average size bowl of porridge. The baby bear has a tiny bowl of porridge. They all had three chairs too. The papa Bear has a great big chair. The Mama Bear has an average sized chair. The Baby Bear had a tiny chair. They all had beds to sleep in too. Papa Bear's bed was huge. Mama Bear's bed was just O.K. Baby Bear's bed was kind of small.

Papa Bear made breakfast for the family. He made delicious porridge. The family went outside for a walk to look for honey. All of a sudden, the girl with the yellow hair named Goldilocks knocked on the Bears' door. Nobody was there. She quietly went right in. Goldilocks was eXtremely hungry. She smelled the porridge. Goldilocks couldn't wait to taste it. She couldn't stop eating it. She ate all of Baby Bear's porridge. Then she sat on all of the bear's chairs. She broke Baby Bear's chair. Next Goldilocks went upstairs. She fell asleep in Baby Bear's wee little bed. When she woke up she saw the bears. She said, "I need to get out of this place!" She jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs. Goldilocks dashed out of the house. She did a zig zag through the woods so that nobody could catch her. Goldilocks vanished. The three bears never saw her again.

WOW! That was a great fairy tale.
