Alex and the Glass Slipper

Year Two - Our Lady of the Cape Primary School, Dunsborough, Western Australia

Once upon a time there lived a kitchen hand named Alex. He worked for 2 mean chefs. They got lazy and made Alex do all the work running the restaurant. One day the king sent a letter to the restaurant saying there was going to be an important cake baking competition. The mean chefs, Manuel and Russell made Alex bake cakes for them to take. Alex said to himself that it wasn’t fair and he wanted to put his foot through the cakes but he didn’t because he needed his job.

Alex’s friend Polly told him to make his best cheese cake. Then she told him to open the cupboard. In side was a sparkly chefs uniform all in the right size for Alex. Then Alex looked outside and saw that his push bike had been turned into a motor bike! Polly told him that he had to be back by midnight or else everything will turn back to what it was.

At the castle, Alex arrived just in time. The princess said for all the judges to try his cake. The judges decided that Alex had won!

But then the clock started to strike 12 o’clock.

Alex rushed outside and saw his bike had turned back to a push bike. He said “Oh well, it was great while it lasted.” Then he rode back to the restaurant.

The next morning the princess sent the royal chef to find the person who baked the winning cake because she wanted to marry him. The royal chef found Alex at the restaurant where Manuel and Russel had made him bake a cheese cake. It wasn’t his special recipe though. The royal chef wasn’t very happy when he tried it.

Before he left Alex said “Wait!” The chef tried Alex’s special recipe and knew straight away he was the winner.

The princess said she wanted to marry Alex, but Alex said no because he wanted to marry Polly.

Alex and Polly decided to open their own restaurant and call it “The Glass Slipper”. They lived happily ever after.
