Cinderella around the World Once upon a time, there was a girl named “Cinderella,” aka (Nyasha, Oona, Rough Faced Girl, Damura.) She lived in many places; a cottage, a castle, an Indian village, the Spice Islands, Persia, and even Africa. “Cinderella” lived with her wicked stepmother and wicked stepsisters, a kind brother and stepmother in The Starlight Cloak, her father and two mean sisters in The Rough Faced Girl, and her father and mean sister in Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters. One day, a messenger arrived at “Cinderella’s” home. The message was an invitation to a big party. In some of the stories the invitation was to a ball, a feast, to meet the prince, or to meet the Invisible Being in The Rough Faced Girl. “Cinderella” wasn’t allowed to attend. “Cinderella” was lucky enough to have a fairy godmother, a pot in The Persian Cinderella, a grandmother crocodile in The Gift of the Crocodile, Nyoka, the snake, in Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters, and a kind stepmother in The Starlight Cloak. Each of them helped “Cinderella” by giving her the items she needed to attend the special event. “Cinderella” lost her footwear (in most stories slippers- red, glass, blue, golden, emerald, moccasins and even an anklet.) Then, the prince found the footwear and searched the entire kingdom for the girl who wore it. When he arrived at the house, the stepsisters tried the footwear on but it didn’t fit them. Finally, “Cinderella” tried it on and it fit!” “Cinderella” and her “Prince Charming” lived happily ever after. The End!
