used a canoe to get to Gluskabe. The four men zigzagged across the water. The
four men could not see, but then the fourth man smoked his pipe and the fog
rolled away. Gluskabe looked at the men and smiled, then he have them

the four sailors a wish. Each man got one pouch, but there was one rule
which was not to open the pouch until they got to the lodge. Gluskabe,

to open the pouches. The first man opened his pouch just a crack. The
first man had nothing so he went to see Gluskabe, and when he got back he opened
the pouch everything came out in the boat and he died. Gluskabe said
not to open their pouches until they get to their lodge, but one of the men
did so he drown in a canoe. The second man wanted to be the tallest
man in the world, but there were four men, so the four men traveled to Gluskabe
and were granted wishes. One of the men opened the pouch a
little to have a peek inside. The third man who turned into a rock remained
unchanged for many years. The fourth man was worried that his people
would not get enough to eat. The fourth man wanted to be able to hunt. When
the fourth man opened his pouch, he could hear the voices of animals talking
to him about their ways. Yet, as he sat there, holding the open
pouch, there came into his mind a great understanding, and he realized the
ways he was to hunt animals. Gluskabe was able to execute all of the wishes.
