The Three Big Pigs and the Cute and Cuddly Rabbit
Grade 2B, New Gisborne Primary School -Victoria, Australia

Hey you. Yes you! You’ve all heard the story of the Three Little Pigs.
Well here’s the rest of the story. Enjoy!

Long, long ago in a faraway place, there was a large flat, grassy meadow. The Three Big Pigs lived together there in a strong brick house. A mean little wolf had blown down the houses of straw and sticks which the first and second big pigs had lived in previously.

The brick house, though, was too small for the three pigs to be comfortable. They all had to sleep in the same single bed! The third pig was quite bossy because he kept insisting they were clean and tidy all the time! Finding it difficult to relax, the first and second pigs decided to move out and build their own strong houses.

Just as they were about to walk out of the door, a knock suddenly sounded. KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK! The three big pigs jumped up in alarm. Staring in fright, they looked at each other and wondered if it was the Little Bad Wolf. The third pig spoke nervously saying, “Who’s knocking at my door?” Answering in a high pitched voice, the pigs heard, “It’s me, the Little Bad Wolf, but I’m not bad anymore. I want to apologise to you all for what I’ve done. My sore tail reminds me of what I did to your houses.”

The pigs replied, “Go away! We don’t trust you!”

Sadly, the little wolf answered, “I understand but I want to warn you about the Cute and Cuddly Killer Rabbit now living in the nearby forest.”

“WHAT!” said the pigs in surprise as they quickly opened the door, “Is it true?”

The Little Not So Bad Wolf said, “Yes it is! Be careful. I’m going back home for safety. Bye.” With that, the wolf zoomed off in a beeline for his den.

The first and second pigs decided then and there to construct extremely strong houses to keep them safe. The third pig felt sad at the idea of his brothers leaving, so he asked them to stay with him while building their houses.

They decided on how to construct their strong houses. The first pig proudly said, “I’m going to use glass bricks to build my house. They are strong and will let me see the view outside.” The second pig proposed, “I will make my house out of the strongest steel you can get so that the Cute and Cuddly Killer Rabbit won’t be able to break in. I’m going to build it near the freshwater lake so I’ve got plenty of water to drink!”

Finally, the first and second pig’s new homes were built after a lot of hard work. The third pig said sadly, “I don’t want you to leave,” but they did the next morning.

They were exhausted after unpacking their belongings. At last, they could relax! At night the pigs were a little worried about the Cute and Cuddly Killer Rabbit, so they always left a light on! Little did they know that the Cute and Cuddly Killer Rabbit noticed the lights. He sneaked towards the brick house first. DANGER WAS COMING CLOSER!

The third pig was about to go to bed when he heard an unusual sound-soft thuds! He waited and then BANG BANG BANG came knocks on the door!

“Big Pig, Big Pig, let me come in!” came a small, low voice. “Not by the bristles of my chinny chin chin,” murmured the nervous pig.

“Then I’ll dig and I’ll dig till I finally get in!” replied the dangerous Cute and Cuddly Killer Rabbit

Suddenly, dirt started to fly up onto the window as the rabbit dug furiously! Eventually, the rabbit’s head popped up from the ground inside the house! The third pig ran at top speed to the first pig’s glass brick house. He was frightened to death! He didn’t want to get eaten.

“HELP. OPEN THE DOOR!!” yelled the third pig in shock. He quickly explained what had happened as he was let in. Meanwhile, the dangerous rabbit was seconds away as he had followed the scent of the terrified pig.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK! “Big Pigs, Big Pigs, Let me come in,” came a small, low pitched voice. “Not by the bristles of our chinny chin chin!” answered the frightened pigs.

“Then I’ll dig and I’ll dig till I finally get in!” replied the Cute and Cuddly Killer Rabbit.

Suddenly, the dirt began to fly up onto the glass brick wall of the house as the rabbit dug furiously.

Eventually, the Cute and Cuddly Killer Rabbit broke through the ground and into the house. By then the pigs had run away, making a beeline to their brother’s house by the lake where they yelled, “HELP! LET US IN!”

The rabbit scampered after them and quickly reached the strong metal house.

BANG! BANG! BANG! “Big Pigs, Big Pigs. Let me come in!” came the frightening voice.

“Not by the bristles on our chinny chin chins!” yelled the pigs in reply.

“Then I’ll dig and I’ll dig till I finally get in,” replied the determined rabbit.

Dirt began flying as the Cute and Cuddly Killer Rabbit started to dig but the rabbit soon bumped his head on the steel floor the second pig had built in his house in case the lake flooded. That was a problem for the rabbit!

Next thing, the rabbit was climbing up to the chimney!

The pigs worked quickly, reading the recipe out of a cookbook for ‘rabbit stew’. They built up the fire and put on a large pot of water to boil.

The rabbit started to climb down into the chimney but halfway down, he noticed the steam and realized what was down below! He stopped. He tried to start climbing back up but the smoke was getting thicker and he was breathing it in. Breathing became extremely difficult and eventually he lost consciousness, falling down into the pot of boiling water.

The Three Big Pigs had a delicious rabbit stew for their dinner. That was the end of the Cute and Cuddly killer Rabbit!

The pigs lived happily ever after in their own houses with no more problems
