Little Red Riding Hood

Grade 2, Shady Side Academy Junior School, Pittsburgh, Pensylvania

Once upon a time there was a girl named Little Red Riding Hood who always wore a red hood.  One day her mother told her to go to her Grandmother’s house to take her some medicine.  To get to her Grandmother’s house she had to go through the woods.  But before long she met a wolf who wanted to eat her and her Grandmother.  He told Little Red Riding Hood to go pick some flowers in the meadow for her Grandmother.  While she was picking the flowers, the wolf snuck into the Grandmother’s house, ate her up and pretended to be the Grandma.

Little Red Riding Hood went to Grandmother’s house, opened the door to show her Grandmother the medicine.    She walks in and says, “My, what big ears you have!”  The wolf says, “The better to hear you with my dear.”  Red says, “My, what a big nose you have!”  The wolf says, “The better to smell you with my dear.”  She then says, “What long arms you have!”  The wolf then says, “The better to hug you with my dear.”  Lastly, Little Red Riding Hood says, “My, what big teeth you have!”  The wolf says, “The better to EAT you with my dear!”  Then the wolf GOBBLES her all up!

The huntsman comes and cuts open the wolf’s stomach.  Little Red Riding Hood and Grandmother jump out!  The huntsman places rocks in the wolf’s belly and sews him back up.  The wolf learns his lesson, runs away and has never been seen again!
