Once upon a time a poor miller died.
He left behind three sons who got a mill, a donkey, and a cat.
The youngest moaned and was extremely upset because he only got a
cat.
He thought he would die that very minute of hunger.
But, the cat, Puss, was very clever and he asked for a pair of boots
and a bag.
He went into a thicket, put his sack of greens there, and finally
a rabbit hopped inside.
Puss zipped to the palace to give the king a present of a rabbit from
the Marquis of Carabas. (his master)
The next day Puss caught two partridges hiding in a wheat field and
gave them to the king.
For months Puss brought game to the king for his supper.
The king and princess went for a drive along the river.
Puss’ master was pretending that his clothes
got stolen while bathing in the river.
Puss yelled, “Help, help the Marquis of Carabas
is drowning!”
The guards jumped into the river to save him.
Puss acted like some robbers stole his masters’ clothes.
The guards fetched handsome suits from the palace.
When the master met the beautiful princess, they fell quickly in love.
Away they went into the carriage for a ride.
Puss scurried ahead and told the peasants who were harvesting wheat
to say the wheat belonged to the Marquis of Carabas.
Puss finally arrived at the ogre’s enormous castle.
Puss tricked the ogre into turning into a lion.
When the ogre turned into a mouse, Puss pounced on him and gobbled
him up.
Just then the carriage rolled over the drawbridge and arrived at the
castle.
Puss welcomed the group and said the castle belonged to the Marquis
of Carabas.
The king liked the wealthy Marquis of Carabas.
The marquis married the kind and lovely princess.
Puss became a great lord, chased mice, and lived happily ever after never
to see the ogre again.
