Tiddalick the Frog

Kindergarten, Roseville College, Sydney, Australia

A long time ago there was a VERY big, GIANT, FAT frog called TIDDALICK who lived in the COUNTRY in outback Australia. One day Tiddalick woke up very HOT and thirsty.

He was grumpy and in ILL HUMOUR because he wanted some water. So, he drank up all the WATER from the OCEANS in the world.

The land turned into a desert because there was no water left. ROCKS and SAND covered the ground. The animals thought they were DOOMED because they thought they might never have water again.

They had to be EXTRA brave. They would certainly never need an UMBRELLA. All the animals begged Tiddalick to let all the water go. But Tiddalick said “No”. So the animals got together to try to think of a plan.

There was a BANDICOOT, a KANGAROO and her JOEY, a LIZARD, a QUOKKA and other animals.

They thought if they could start MAKING Tiddalick laugh, he might let go of the water. YES, they had a plan!

Each animal tried to make him laugh but couldn’t.

There was one animal that made Tiddalick laugh. It was an EEL called NABUNUM that did ACROBATICS, ZIG ZAGS and PIROUETTES on his tummy and then fell off and twisted into a knot.

Everybody thought it was so funny, they started to laugh.

Even Tiddalick laughed and guess what? He let go of all the water and the animals never went thirsty again.
