Why Move?

We were perfectly content. Our home in River Grove was almost paid off; we had all the things we could possibly 'fit' into the yard. We'd put up a small deck with a greenhouse on it and extended the home space by putting a sliding door in the room leading to it. The floors has been redone, furniture purchased, walls perfect; even the basement was refinished. There hadn't even been a flood in several years, so we were beginning to believe that the two previous floods HAD been flukes of nature and were unlikely to occur again.

What more could a person want in a home?

Well, that was the problem, there was no place to put any new plants, no room for anything like a real deck. We could never think of adding a fruit tree - no room. And then there was Brian, our cat. He kept jumping the fence to visit the neighbors. He just thought ALL that block was his space. Sarah, his sister was much better; she usually just stayed in our yard, but we knew the kids both wanted more room.

Still, neither of us really thought about moving.

Then it started to happen. One couple who were friends moved to a new townhouse and were so happy with the change; soon after another friend moved to an older building, but one that seemed perfect for him. There was all this talk of moving. So, one day Richard just called an agent to 'investigate' the market. We both thought about just looking around and seeing what was available...not really committing to moving, but just interested in seeing if we could find something for about the same money as we would get for our current home.

That was in early February, by May 7th we were moved and saying to ourselves, "have we gone totally mad?"
